Recipe: Blueberry Smoothie Bowl With Asparagus and Napa Cabbage

smoothiebowl_asparagusYup- I know it sounds strange, but you can put so many nutritional ingredients right into your smoothie, or smoothie bowl, in this case. What’s great is that you cannot even taste it! So-  if you (or maybe the kids) need more nutrition through vegetables, something I am a big fan of, try this!

Here is how to do it:


1 banana – if you want it thicker, use a frozen banana cut into small pieces for your blender. If you have a Vitamix, you can just break it in half and toss it in.

1/2 cup frozen organic blueberries

1 -2 tbsp organic almond butter (make sure it only has almonds in it to avoid added sugars and oils)

1 serving of your favorite organic, non-gmo vanilla protein

1 handful of organic bok choy or napa cabbage

4-5 small asparagus spears

1/4 cup of water

Combine all ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth. Drink or eat with a spoon. If you choose a topping such as sunflower or chia seeds, take it easy. You have made a delicious drink that comes with some good calories. Toppings can cause you to overdo it. Just be mindful.
